Risk Management in Procurement and Supply Chain Management

Course Description

This course is to enable students to undertake risk analysis within the supply chain in general and have to ability to apply the appropriate risk management tools and techniques for the risk identification and mitigation within the supply chain would be discussed. Students would understand the nature of risk affecting the supply chain and its impact on the supply chain. The importance of risk identification would be analysed. Additionally the risk management strategies would be examined. the risk assessment and a development of risk register to mitigate risk within the supply chain would be explored. students would also appreciate Fraud and corruption risk within the supply chain as its an issue plaguing most businesses now. additionally the types of operational risk and project risk  in the supply chain would also be discussed. the role of Contingency planning within the supply chain would also be examined.

At the end of the model, students would be expected to:

  • Understand  the risk management process
  • Appreciate risk management tools 
  • Develop Risk assessment and a risk register to mitigate risk within the supply chain.
  • Appreciate Fraud and corruption risk
  • Discuss the types of operational risk in the supply chain.
  • Examine Project risk
  • Discuss the contractual remedies for risk management.
  • Discuss Contingency planning
  • Appreciate the preparation of business continuity planning and disaster recovery plan
